Digital Jersey It’s been quite a year since we launched Digital Jersey.  When we set out to bring Jersey’s digital professionals together, we had no idea how successful the concept would be. Just twelve months later, Digital Jersey has become one of the focal points for networking within the Island’s digital industries.  We never would have guessed that in such a short space of time Digital Jersey would have morphed into a government initiative to promote technology within the Island and across the globe.

Last week we gave you an insight into the idea of joined-up approach to your marketing activity, in other words connecting the online & offline efforts.  Surprisingly, our experience is that many retailers seem to ignore the opportunities of joining up the traditional and digital and do nothing to mitigate the risk of the shrinking offline revenues.  Such inactivity threatens retailers' survival in the medium to long term.

Why is it important?
Choosing a Content Management System (CMS) is probably the most important decision when you build your website.   There are a number of CMSs, including open source, license or proprietary systems.   As you probably already discovered, most of the suppliers claim that their systems are Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) friendly.    Unfortunately, very often the decision makers have a limited knowledge of SEO and would probably  have difficulties validating their SEO friendliness.
